Use sparingly: only a small drop—too much can destabilize paint layers 

Pre-treatment of surfaces: wetters like oxgall are used to degrease and prepare non-absorbent supports (e.g. treated paper, canvas) before applying paint 

Enhances fluidity and helps with even wash application and color blending 

Note on storage: it may flocculate over time—settling does not affect performance 

Diluent: simply diluted in water—no need for solvents
